The Greenville Housing Authority’s (GHA) mission is to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing conditions for very low-income families and to manage resources efficiently. The Public Housing Authority (PHA) is to promote personal, economic and social upward mobility to provide families the opportunity to make the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing.
We strive to partner with other organizations in order to bring needed services to all participants in our community.
GHA offers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) only. We are authorized with 784 vouchers to assist families in the City of Terrell, the Counties of Hopkins, Hunt, Rains and Rockwall.
The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program assists families with paying their rent to private owners of apartments and houses. The program is funded by the federal government through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Section 8 Program utilizes private property owners in providing affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing to eligible participants.
As Vouchers become available, families are chosen from the waiting list based on the date and time order in which they applied for assistance.
Please know we do not have any emergency or temporary housing assistance. Please check our “Resources and Links” tab at the top of this website for additional help.
Any current voucher holder with another PHA that is eligible to transfer their voucher, or port-in, to our jurisdiction is welcome.
If you or anyone in your family is a person with disabilities, and you require a specific accommodation in order to fully utilize our program and services, please contact our administrative office at: 4417 Oneal, Greenville, TX 75401-7012 or call 903-455-1771.
